So the photographer said to really look at your photos and ask yourself what is the main focal point so you can amitt the unnecessary and distracting scenes.

This article talks about new techniques on after taking pictures of trees, leaves, or other objects within nature, when editing them try new things. The article says you don't always need a clear blue sky, so try warmer tones. Turn it abstract if its a photo taken in water. Just bring out the details that others wouldn't notice.
